Looking For A New Vehicle in 2019?
If you look at vehicle safety statistics over the past few decades you notice a positive trend. No matter how you look at it, even the vehicle that receives the worst ratings for safety is still way safer than anything else on the road that is over 10 years old. The biggest reason is down to massive technology improvements.
As technological advances in the auto industry evolves, they are getting safer every year. Blind-spot monitoring, automatic braking, backup cameras, and collision impact research and technology helps keep you and your family safe from being injured or killed on the roads.
Do you consider safety first and you’re in the market for a new vehicle? We’ve tracked down the safest in class. It’s just one way that the team at Bergens Autobody & Collision centre in Regina can help keep you informed.
Best Safety Rated Sedans for 2019
Kia Optima – Kia has come a long way since they debuted in the states in the mid-1990s and have they ever stepped up their game! With an average of 31mpg, this vehicle gets you there safely, and efficiently.
Hyundai Sonata – Hyundai has long been held as a manufacturer that pays attention to the details. From semi-luxurious interiors to 28mpg, to safety on the roads, it’s hard to go wrong with a Hyundai.
Volkswagen Jetta – The diesel emissions scandal aside, Volkswagen does a fine job making vehicles. The Jetta is still sporty but keeps you and your family safe. With an average of 34mpg, it’s going to be a long time between fill-ups.
Best Safety Rated Compacts and Coupes for 2019
Hyundai Kona – Described as a sub-compact crossover, the Kona takes on sporty and SUV. With 28mpg, a great engine, and high safety ratings, we would say they did a good job.
Subaru WRX – Subarus boast long-lasting vehicles. And it’s true, they tend to run longer than others with minimal maintenance (a well-maintained vehicle will last a long time regardless of manufacturer). The WRX has power and sacrifices MPG (about 24 on average). But they’re safe, and that’s what matters.
Honda Insight – The Honda Insight was the first hybrid to hit the market 20 years ago. It has been revamped to look more like an accord, but still boasts 50+ mpg. Plenty of luxury, great economy, and safety; hard to beat that mix.
Best Safety Rated SUVs for 2019
Mercedes-Benz GLC – When you buy luxury, you often get safety. Time has been spent on this vehicle to ensure it has the best of what you need! But with the base model coming in around $50,000 it might be at the top end of peoples’ budget.
Acura MDX – The top two rated SUVs are also a couple of the most expensive. Acura, owned by Honda, makes great vehicles that are top in safety ratings. Of course, when you consider safety first and go SUV, you sacrifice mpg; the MDX gets about 22 to the gallon.
Honda HRV – The Honda HRV is technically a crossover. But it is more of an SUV than a compact, and thus it makes the SUV list. With 30+ to the gallon on some of their SUV’s, Honda has stepped up their efficiency game. With high safety ratings and well-made rigs, they’re becoming even more popular.
Here at Bergen’s Auto Body & Collision Centre, we treat you like family and that means we work hard to give your vehicles back to you properly and most importantly safely!
